Two Coat Plastering (Float & Skim)

Two coat plastering is a combination of an undercoat plaster with finish, commonly used in both new work and refurbishment. Two coat work has many advantages over render/plaster and skimming. Two coat dries faster than the traditional render and finish plaster, meaning a faster completion. It also shrinks less, reducing the risk of cracking.

A wide range of performance undercoat plasters can be used depending on the background to be plastered and the requirements of the finish. Different types of undercoat can be used to bond to low suction backgrounds, bond to damp treated walls and to set the finish plaster harder to give a greater impact resistance.
